Coming on July 16, 2012, the applicants who wish to apply British citizenship from outside the country – will now have to send their application directly to United Kingdom Border Agency’s (UKBA) office – located in Liverpool. The new changes, however, will not make any kind of impact on citizens of Hong Kong, who still have same privilege of sending their application form to British Consulate or local British High Commission.
Before this, the applicants generally submit their application at the British Council or British High Commission, located in their nearest hometown. After introducing the new plan, the applicants need to send their application form to UKBA’s office.
Besides, they can complete the task of payment by completing a payment slip – after doing that – applicants can send it along with their completed applications and various supporting documents.
Describing the changes, the UKBA spokesperson, asserted, “If needed, we will contact the applicants by sending an e-mail about their visa application, so it is needed for all of you to provide your email address for avoiding any delay in processing. We take other alternate to contact you by writing a letter to you through nearest British High Commission.”
The UKBA spokesperson further suggested that the applicants must send their original copy of passport, in case of not able to do then they must send their a completed copy of passport authorized by local notary or equivalent body.
“Those applicants, who have sent their copy of passport, may be asked for producing the original documents of one of our staff in their country for verification. Once after reviewing and passing a decision on your application, you will be further informed regarding this by your nearest British High Commission,” the spokesperson added further.
However, citizens from countries like Belarus, Georgia, Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and more may face difficulty in sending their original copy of passport.
