Demand for US H-1B Permits Could Be Record High

In the backdrop of the tech firms continuing their hiring spree the intensity of the fight, for pocketing the maximum number of such permits, may head north. Growing demand for the US H-1B permits–together with restricted quota for such permits–surely calls for an instant requirement for a US immigration overhaul.

Meanwhile, the concerned organization–the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (the USCIS)–has begun to admit submissions for the US H-1B visas from April 1 onwards. It’s being hoped that the figure of the petitions for such permits would surpass the figure of the existing US H-1B permits.

In the aftermath of heavy rush of applications the USCIS is likely to employ a lottery procedure for random selection of the US companies, for the objects of giving such permits to the prospective workers. For the next budget year, i.e., 2014 budget, the entire yearly quota for the high-skilled immigrant permits has been decided at 85,000.

Lottery scheme for random selection of US H-1B submissions

Given this, there will be no other option for the USCIS, except to stop admitting fresh submissions for such permits. And, Immigration US will resort to a lottery course of action for random selection of the aspirants for the US H-1B permits.

It signifies that the selection of the companies will be made, via a lottery arrangement by the USCIS, for giving the US  H-1B permits to their potential employees even as this would be historic year since 2008 when the volume of the candidates easily surpasses the number of the existing American H-1B permits. Reportedly, the decision to employ lottery scheme for random selection of the H-1B permit petitions will be taken soon.

US Tech Companies Hiring: A Helpful Development

However, it’s also being feared by some people that the wide availability of the talented manpower could also pose some issues for several American companies.
