DICA will visit Western Australia to provide information on employer-sponsored migration programs to business people and workers. This will be a two day visit on 9th and 10th March following a seminar on the last day.
The department will provide information on recent reforms in 457 visa scheme, employer responsibility, permanent residence (covering local sponsored immigration program) and employer-sponsored visa options for skilled workers. A free seminar in Esperance, a Western Australia region will be conducted for regional employers on 10th March.
A department official conveyed that several employers are facing difficulties in finding a skilled worker due to labor shortage in the market and will consider sponsoring skilled employees from abroad countries. The outreach officers will be present and offer private conference with employers concerning sponsored immigration schemes. This will provide a better opportunity to employers and skilled visa holders to ask direct questions on these immigration programs.
Officers will provide valuable information involving skilled immigration and sponsored programs such as changes in visa class, annual quota, market wage rates, training requirements, health insurance and employer obligations. The outreach official will also converse rest visa and citizenship programs other than sponsored category.
The Australian government is keen to increase employer-sponsored migration programs to accommodate surging labor demand of market as regional labors are insufficient or unable to meet the requirement.
