In order to employ overseas workers under the Temporary 457 work visa, Australia will make its immigration rules easier than before particularly for the resources sector. The initiatives for temporary migration visas will help in quick process of the application. In order to fill the vacancies that can’t be filled from the native workforce, the Enterprise Migration Agreements also known as EMAs will permit a huge resource projects for hiring foreign workers.
According to the Australian Immigration Minister, it will not only be effective in negotiation arrangements to access overseas workers, but also will provide guarantee of faster processing time for visa applications.
He also mentioned that Enterprise Migration Agreements would be a very useful project-wide migration arrangement, specially designed for resource sector. It will ensure that no constrains will endanger Australian jobs and major projects due to skill shortage.
Due to the recent economic crises, all the countries of the world had to go through a lot of financial difficulties. However, in comparison to other countries of the world, Australia is getting recovered from it faster and thus, having a very low unemployment rate around 5 percent. In fact, the mining industry which is a resource sector industry is looking for more workers for it.
Australian Immigration Minister has also mentioned that with the investment of $380 billion in the pipeline for resources projects, they are actually approaching a serious situation for the construction phases of a lot of important projects. Access to overseas labour will help them to meet their highest projects’ needs properly.
By reducing the time consumption for visa processing, their business needs can be easily meet up. Over the last five years, the processing times for 457 have reduced to 30 percent. With an objective to further reduce the processing time, Government will soon open a new centre for Visa processing in Brisbane. Their main aim is to lessen the time for visa application to ten days.
