What EB 5 Approved Regional Centers Do?

EB 5 Approved Regional Centers (RC) are economic units public or private, which have been approved by the Government of the US as defined in the Investors Visa Program, under the Immigration Act 1990. These centers form an inseparable part of the Immigrant Investor Pilot Project and have helped this project to achieve a fair amount of success after the re-launch in 2002.

The pilot program is now expected to be extended permanently after September 30, 2012 with the concept of the Regional Representation being at the helm of the affairs. The Government is trying to promote the establishment of more and more blocs.

Regional Focus Units generally represent those targeted geographical areas, rural or urban, where the level of the economic activity averages way below the national average, and needs to improve the economic scenario and develop the local economy, besides bringing down unemployment. They work as the dedicated channels for chanelising more and more foreign investment through the Investor immigrants to the allocated region.

There are at present over 150 EB-5 Approved Regional Units functioning under the statute throughout the US after the re-launch, which are actively promoting their particular locations. Typically, a Center may undertake one or more TEAs (Targeted Employment Area).

This concept was enacted after individual Migrant Investor program achieved limited or no success. Since its inception the RC concept has come in quiet handy to rope in more and more interested aspirants worldwide. Under these rules, the requirement of the investments has been reduced to $ 500,000 from $ 1,000, 000.

There are several other unparalleled benefits that Territory centers offer to you as foreign investors, if you are:

  • Not interested in starting a business.
  • May be retired.
  • Although may want to start a business, you find it almost impossible to create requisite direct jobs.
  • Do not want to stay at a place in the US.
  • Want to spend a significant amount of time outside of the US.
  • Green Card is the objective behind the investment.

Under the RC program, the Commercial enterprise can be established, in the form of Limited Partnership or corporation that may engage in making investment loans, or use the money to directly engage in a particular business.

The RCs normally use the RIMS II job-calculation method to estimate the number of full-time positions the specific Migrant investor project will create. The petitioners can qualify based upon indirect employment creation generated in the community through the EB 5 Approved Regional Center investment.
