The Refugee Family Support Category under New Zealand’s residence instructions is designed to let the country meet its obligations at global and humanitarian level. Through this very residence category New Zealand allows refugees or protected individuals within its boundaries to sponsor their family members for residence.
So, who are those people (family members) that qualify for sponsorship under the Refugee Family Support Category? Let us find out:
- Family member of a refugee (who is a resident /citizen) in New Zealand, including a principal applicant, his/her partner and dependent children are allowed residence in the Kiwi country under the Refugee Family Support Category; AND
- To be able to get sponsored, the above members’ sponsor’s registration must be nominated from the tier one queue of the Refugee Family Support Category; OR
- The sponsor’s registration must be selected from the tier 2 ballot of the Refugee Family Support; AND
- These family members are eligible to be sponsored only if they are unable to obtain a NZ residence class visa under any category of residence instructions; AND
- They must meet all requirements, in respect of character and health under residence instructions; AND
