Evidence of Sponsorship-Sibling and Adult Child Category!

When a New Zealand resident or citizen wishes to sponsor his/her siblings or adult children for a residence class visa under the Sibling and Adult Child Category, the INZ requires both the parties- applicant(s) and sponsor to produce the evidence to support an applicant’s relationship to the sponsor and the sponsor’s eligibility to support an application under the category. Let us discuss about the evidence that both the parties require to produce:

Evidence on the part of principal applicants

  • In order to support siblings’ or adult children’s (principal applicants) relationship to their sponsor, the former should provide the original or certified copies of their birth certificates that indicate their relationship with the sponsor; OR
  • The original or certified copies of household registration documents, given they establish the applicants’ relationship with the sponsor; OR
  • The original or certified copies of adoption certificate that establishes the relationship between the principal applicants and the sponsor.

Evidence to support relationship between principal applicants and sponsors may not be limited to the above only. One may be asked by the Immigration New Zealand to produce beyond these documents.

Sponsorship Evidence

  • Sponsorship evidence is the sponsorship form for residence in New Zealand, which vouches for the fact that the sponsor is an acceptable sponsor;
  • The form must also contain the sponsorship undertakings that are required to be meet by the sponsor.

While New Zealand keeps the provision open for siblings and adult children of NZ residents to obtain residence class visas, the process can be somewhat complex for some interested immigrants. • Your updated resume if skilled professional, or if businessmen, then brief on business profile along with information on your current personal net worth.
  • If married, provide the resume for your spouse as well.
  • If applicable, please provide information on children and their age.
  • Information on any blood relatives residing in New Zealand. This is not a compulsory requirement to qualify for immigration to New Zealand, but serves as additional positive assessment and suitability factor.
