The US President Barack Obama has reinforced his pledge to strive for immigration reform in the United States. This came about a day later after the DREAM Act failed to be established in the Senate.
It was assured by the President as an effort to appeal and to get the support of the Hispanic population in the United States. This is because Obama has pledged to bring about immigration reform comprehensively towards the policies during his election campaigns. These reforms were to be aimed at granting a way towards citizenship for the millions of illegal migrants living in the nation as of now.
A statement was released by the White House which stated a pledge regarding proposals to restore responsibility as well as accountability apart from securing national borders. More so, mending the completely broken immigration system!
The DREAM Act which was rejected in the Senate was a way to US citizenship for all the young illegal migrants and were brought to the United States when they were minors. However, in order to obtain a citizenship, they must either be enrolled in a college or must have served in the US military so as to be eligible under this act.
However, this task would become really difficult in January when Obama would not be in control of the House of Representatives. His Senate majority would be reduced.
Above all, the statement from the White House seemed very optimistic. As per the statement, the people of America anticipate both the parties to come together when it comes to certain approaches so as to resolve some of the toughest issues, instead of pressing it down further.
