Figures Project Steady Flow of Refugees!

According to the statistics which have been brought out, over 16,600 asylum seekers have claimed for the visas to Canada. These visas have been asked for protection. These claims were made in the first nine months of 2010.

As per the statistics from the Canada Immigration and Refugee Board, 9,100 refugee claimants have got an approval on their visas. However, another 9,800 claims have been rejected. These numbers also includes the number of applications that were rejected in the previous year as well. At the same time, the number of applications that were withdrawn came to another 3,300. About 1,174 claimants did not attend the sessions for their hearing regarding their visa.

The estimations made project over 20,000 claims for refugees to be made by the end of this year. This number can be considered as being almost similar to the figures in 2009. Of all the refugee claimants, majority of them belong to China, Hungary, Colombia, Afghanistan, Albania and Bangladesh.

As of now, 1,170 claims have come from the Chinese asylum seekers, another 1,325 from the nationals of Hungary, 1,110 from Colombia, 368 claims from Afghans, 165 from Albanians and another 95 from the citizens of Bangladesh. Of these numbers, 38 percent of the cases have been accepted approximately.

On the other hand, when it comes to asylum seekers, the concept of illegal migration also comes into picture. Each year, many illegal migrants arrive through various modes. Most of them do not even carry appropriate documentation which could at least aid in their application process.
