As per certain reports, people from as many as 65 different nations participated in an exclusive citizenship event in Sydney to celebrate 65 years of the passage of the Australian citizenship act. Allegedly, the event was a component of the Parramasala Festival in recognition of the arts & cultures of the communities of Western Sydney even as the same was the 1st main citizenship ceremony that involved the new Immigration and Border Protection Minister, who rolled-out re-carpet welcome to the new citizens.
Scott Morrison, the minister, said that the government will celebrate the national democratic values, equality, & respect for each other and what brings the people on a common platform as proud Australians. He added that the nation has an open door immigration policy for those who are qualified to officially become a part of the Australian community. Morrison further said that the citizenship of Down Under denotes duly recognizing the Kangaroo Land as their (the new citizens’) home, and accepting the Australian way of life.
During the financial period of 2012-2013, over 120,000 persons were granted the nation’s citizenship. Though, at the present, over 95% of the country’s population happen to be the nation’s citizens, before the formation of the Citizenship Act 1948, it was not possible for the aliens to gain the country’s citizenship. Since the 1st ceremony for citizenship was staged, over 4.5 million persons have allegedly gained citizenship, even as more than one million persons have gained the citizenship status during the last 10 years alone.
