Georgia headstrong on an appropriate immigration reform!

The Republicans and the Democratic lawmakers met this Thursday to discuss about illegal immigration. The Democrats right before the exclusive meeting of the Republicans said that before enacting any immigrant policy for Georgia, ii must be kept in mind that the Georgia Agricultural industry largely comprising of immigrant workers is a multi billion industry generating revenue of US$65 billion. Any controversial policy can upset the immigrants which it turn can upset the economy of the state.

Senator Nan Orrock stated that an appropriate immigration bill is required that will help in flourishing the economy, create more employment and guide the state of Georgia on the path of success. The Georgia Farm Bureau comprised if more than 400K families stated that illegal immigration is the headache of the Federal government and not of the State. At the annual convention at the Jekyll Island there was strong disapproval of any immigration policy that will be unfair to the farmers in Georgia or even affect the credibility of the farmers in Georgia compared to those of the other states.

The Chairman of the Joint House as well as the Immigration Reform Senate Study Committee said that there are plans of introducing Arizona style immigration reform to the state.

Senator Jack Murphy said that the federal employee identification system E-Verify is already recommended in the state. It is yet to be devised which private employers are required to use the E-Verify system. It is clear that whatever immigration policy is devised for the state it should not affect the Agriculture industry or the economy of the state.
