Govt. May Ease out Visa Regulations for IT Professionals

News by The Economics Times states that the government may relax the mandatory visa requirements for foreign professionals belonging to IT Industry, a government official confirmed the same, asking to keep his identity anonymous.

The official said that they are crafting the list for all the activities of the IT Industry for which firms would be given the freedom to employ international workers without having the need to have work permit for a particular time span.

He further went on to say that the amendments done in the visa rules last year, lead to a decrease in the quantity of Chinese workers from a gigantic 42,000 to a Lilliputian 3,000 which created more employment opportunities for the local people. But the rules went against all those companies/industries that required international expertise to commence their business in a smooth manner.

The report points out that those international workers having business visas, required in the IT industry, would be granted freedom to get employed for short duration of time, even if they don’t have permits, provided they are demanded in sectors like training of work force, to name a few, confirmed the official.

President of Nasscom, Mr. Som Mittal, further spoke on the whole issue that barring foreign workers would only hamper the activities. There should be no restrictions for the highly skilled workers.

Another government official marked his statement on this subject, stating that the authority would be making the changes in accordance with the situation.
