Immigration to Canada via Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (Alberta PNP)

The famous Canadian Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (Alberta PNP) is an economic immigration program operated by the Government of Alberta in collaboration with the Government of Canada’s department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

Alberta is located in Western Canada. Often known as the nation’s “energy province” it is one of the country’s most economically and socially dynamic provinces. It has a high economy, based mainly on its natural resources. The beautiful province is a home to two of the nation’s largest cities, Calgary and Edmonton, and some of the best seen tourist places.

The AINP offers options for both skilled and semi-skilled workers. Additionally, you can apply on your own or with your employer. Like, the well-known British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program for Businessmen, the applicants with the desired skills and experience targeted by the province receive an Alberta Provincial Nomination Certificate, which will speed up their immigration process.
Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (Alberta PNP) consists of three main immigration streams:

  1. Strategic Recruitment Stream: Under this stream, you have the freedom to apply without employer sponsorship. You stand a chance to qualify if you are a temporary foreign worker, and have a valid trade certificate–either in a compulsory or optional trade in Alberta recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT). It consists of three categories, i.e., Compulsory and Optional Trades Category, Engineering Occupations Category, and Post Graduate Worker Category.
  2. Employer Driver Stream: Under this category, the recruiters/firms are absolutely free to nominate workers to the AINP, for immigration purposes. In a way, the applicants have the comfort of knowing that their job prospects are extremely bright after becoming Permanent Resident of Alberta even as employers can easily retain the workers they require. This stream consists of three sub-categories, i.e., Skilled Worker Category, International Graduate Category, and Semi-Skilled Worker
  3. Self-Employed Farmer Stream: This class offers Permanent Residency (PR) to individuals with the farming experience and personal funds to purchase and develop a farm in Alberta. Successful applicants are farm owner/operators who intent to live in Canada permanently, and run their farming business.

Before submitting your application, make sure that you have the intentions to permanent settle in Alberta, and have educational qualifications in the relevant subject, training, prior work experience, and any Alberta licensing, if needed, for the desired position to meet AINP criteria.

The immigration process basically consists of two parts: At first, you must apply to the Alberta province. Secondly, once the province nominates you, you must apply to the CIC for permanent residence. Thereafter, a CIC officer will assess your application based on Canadian immigration rules.

Slowly and steady, the province is gaining widespread popularity world wide as it is one of the world’s leader in oil and gas industry, and also a home to a fast growing industrial and service economy.
