According to Vayalar Ravi, who is the Minister for Overseas Indian Affair, the workers who were clogged in Libya without granting them their due pays since the month of October last year will now be able to return back to their homes in the end of August.
The minister has further confirmed that the ministry had extended meetings and discussions with the government of Libya. Now their efforts have paid of as the people stuck in the country would now be able to return back to their homes. The process if their visas are going on and they are expected to come back to their countries by the end of August.
Ravi had a visit of two days to Libya. Also, a committee of two people including K.C.Badhok, who is the Emigration Director and K.V. Unnikrishnan, who is the minister’s additional personal secretary presented a report to the minister.
Ravi further added that it was on the request of Indian Ambassador to Libya M. Manimekalai that two officials were sent to have an insight into the whole case and have talks with the government of Libyan government. In addition, the talks were made to help our embassy so that it can offer the workers all the basic amenities including food, medical facilities, to name a few and bring these workers back to their home land.
The hundreds of workers were left in a state of bondage and helplessness when a firm called CKG stopped paying the dues to these workers.
