Inter-country Adoptions- New Zealand Family Category!

Inter-country adoption category has been included in the Family Categories under the New Zealand Residence instructions. If a New resident class visa holder or a Kiwi citizen wishes to adopt a child from outside the Kiwi country, he or she must follow the below guidelines:

  • When a New Zealand citizen or an individual holding a Kiwi residence class visa adopts a child from outside the country lawfully, the individual may apply on behalf of the minor for either NZ citizenship or NZ residence.
  • If the NZ resident or citizen applies for a Kiwi residence class visa on behalf of the child, the latter must meet the same requirements as any other child of NZ resident or citizen has to meet.

  • If married, provide the resume for your spouse as well.
