Under the proposed reform, asylum seekers would be granted eight days to obtain counsel. Next, their claim would be heard in 60 months from the date of filing the claim. Kenney confirmed that the introduction of a distinct section of the Immigration and Refugee Board which would be responsible for hearing the cases.
If the reform will get approval, then failed asylum seekers would be ship out within an year. The reform needs to be passed by Parliament!
Claimers have to keep this thing in mind that the number of appeals are limited. One cannot file appeal after an appeal, as those days are over now, the minister confirmed.
