Language Requirements for Non-principal Applicants- Skilled Migrant Category!

English language is one of the prerequisites New Zealand immigrants must meet. Along with principal applicants applying for NZ resident visa, their accompanying applicants are also required to meet the minimum standard of English language requirements.

  • In most cases, partner and dependent children who aged 16 and above of principal applicants must demonstrate that they satisfy a minimum standard of English in order to obtain settlement in the Kiwi country; OR
  • They must pre-purchase ESOL training; OR
  • They must provide other evidence that shows that they are competent user of English language.
  • They must provide a test report form from IELTS, which must not be more than 2 year old at the time of lodging the NZ residence application; OR
    Partners of principal applicants must have current skilled employment in the Kiwi country for a minimum period of 1 year that qualifies for points; OR
