Below are minimum standard of English language requirements that all principal applicants under the Skilled Migrant Category must meet.

• Principal applicants must provide a Test Report Form from IELTS and it must demonstrate that they have achieved at least 6.5 of overall band score in any of the modules- General or Academic Module. The test report should not be more than 2-year old at the time of lodging the residence application.

• Principal applicants must provide evidence supporting their recognized qualifications which was earned in completion of a course or courses of study in which English was the sole medium of instruction; AND

• If the qualification was gained in the Kiwi country, it must have completion period of at least 2 years. Besides, the qualification must be a post-graduate, as well as the applicant must have an undergraduate qualification which qualifies for points; OR

• A principal applicant must have current skilled employment in the Kiwi country for a minimum period of 1 year which qualifies for points.
