While UK-based British Council specializes in international cultural and educational opportunities, IDP: IELTS Australia is instrumental in offering student placement in many countries; and Cambridge ESOL Examinations happens to be a global provider of exams for English language learners.

Today, for around 6000 organizations across the world IELTS is the most secure and reliable measure to determine the ability of potential immigrants and international students in English language. In an IELTS test, candidates are tested in four factors, viz., listening, reading, writing and speaking. In each factor, scores are banded from 1 to 9, both being the lowest and highest possible score respectively.

The test has two different versions- IELTS Academic module and IELTS General Training module. The academic module is instrumental in measuring English language skill required for higher-level academic environments, while the other is instrumental in determining the language skills in a practical environment. The General Training module is best suited when it comes to immigration.
