New Immigrant Grading System to be Introduced by Japan

A recent report from a reliable source has revealed that Japan is all set to introduce a new grading system for overseas skilled workers, in the coming Spring season. According to this new system, the government of the nation will give preference to the immigrants with higher grades.

The Japanese Government will divide working occupations into three different categories, such as: specialized skills, academic research and management or administration.

Under this new system of grading, immigrants with higher qualifications, such as: masters or doctoral degrees will be provided with up to 30 points and immigrants with specialized skills, on the basis of their level and duration of work experience will be provided with up to 25 points.

However, immigrants scoring 70 points will be provided with some additional facilities, for instance: the ability to obtain a Japanese permanent visa (with a condition that these immigrants have been living in the country for about 5 years, which is less than the present requirement of 10 years). Moreover, under this new system, spouses will be permitted to work.

Pursuant to a report of 2008 by the Japanese Government, the workforce of the country will go down by a third or more by the year of 2050. The main cause of this declination is mentioned to be reducing birth rates and an ageing of population. The government is expecting that the new system of immigrant grading will provide the nation with an influx of high skilled, qualified immigrants to transform the effects of a shrinking native workforce.
