The Canadian province of Saskatchewan recorded the highest number of people working last month. The number as reported by Statistics Canada was approximately 527k.
Rob Norris the Minister for advanced education, employment and immigration said that such rise in the number of the working people is a good thing and this graph pleased him. He said that this positive change magnified year after year in the tenth month. Norris also opined that it is surely a good change for the people of the province.
The NDP opposition was not in agreement with the opinion though; they said that the situation was not prosperous for all. The food bank resources have witnessed a sharp increase in the usage. The people joining the workforce have mainly been aboriginal people and women.
Last year the private sector job generation amounted to 17,000. While this year around 6000 jobs have been generated. The growth has been observed in many sectors, they are transport, trade, service sector, information technology according to Mr. Norris.
Norris was questioned on the steps taken to fortify the economy to which he replied the Saskatchewan Party government has invested in bringing up children health care hospitals as well as centers for life sciences. The government also took the initiative to pay off the debt on the province by 40%. He also said that economic strong hold of the province should benefit the masses. However he asserted that this is only the beginning and lots was left to accomplish.
Cam Broten the opposition critic highlighted the numbers of food bank users reaching the numbers 23,000 in the previous year.
They also shifted the notice to the job cut downs in many other sectors like agriculture, forestry, mining, education etc. He said that the employment rate in these sectors was 23.1% and that was definitely unacceptable.
