Opposition Attacks UK Government over Immigration Chaos

In what could be called a scathing attack, the British Labour Party has blamed the current government for heading an immigration structure in complete disarray. The opposition has alleged that the administration was smug; adding its sole response to unlawful immigration was to get a person in a vehicle to drive through the British capital with an advertisement urging illegal migrants to return back.

Allegedly, the incumbent government had reduced the nation’s Border Force manpower by 6% from 2010 to 2013 even as the same had inspired the group to explore tough options while guarding the national borders.

Passport Lines Shrink

As per a report in this connection, a fresh synchronized force deployment prototype at the nation’s main airport, Heathrow, had permitted the workforce to be positioned at certain places wherein they were required rapidly. Other innovations had also led to a considerably reduced volume of time for the travelers wait time in the passport lines at the country’s air, sea, & rail ports.

In 2012, a staggering 99% of the people, landing at the UK ports & airports, cleared the passport control inside the target time of just 25 minutes even while the same had improved from just 81% in the preceding year. The said progress had been made despite the fact that Britain played host to the Olympics, besides the Paralympics Games, in the year gone by.

But, as per the report in question, the same had denoted that the Border Force had been left with no options except to go easy on other checks. According to an involved person, the danger existed that the nation was comparatively less secure consequently.

Secondary Checks Ignored

She informed the media that the Border Force had been more attentive to the length of passport lines at the cost of other equally crucial work with the reason being some in the organization wrongly believed that the same was preferred by the Home Office.

She added that the organization appeared to be more involved with the passport queues as their chief priority, as they had to report on this issue every week. The same gave the administration the idea that passport queues were the main concern, vis-à-vis other duties, like; for example, checking for unlawful stowaways and/or illegal imports.

Other Issues Not Given Importance

Allegedly, even as the Border Force had to report on these matters as well, they had to do so less frequently. Hence, they did not give much attention to other subjects. However, rubbishing all such allegations, the in-office Immigration Minister has claimed that Britain has one of the safest borders across the globe, adding the organization will keep on improving and performing well.
