The Passport Seva Project is basically a striving e-governance program by Indian Government. The main objective of this project is to deliver passport within lesser time period, that’s within three days. In past few years, the growth in the number of issuing passport has increased about 20 per cent. In the year of 2010, the highest number of 5.52 million passports are being delivered.

Though the execution of this project in its proper manner is facing certain difficulties, yet the Ministry of External Affairs and the Tata Consultancy Services which is a private sector provider are determined to go for this new scheme in the pre-decided cities.

According to a senior MEA official, within the month of June, they are planning to start these Passport Centers in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Then every month, they will open 3 to 5 centers along with 20 centers.

With a motive to streamline passports issuing process, the Government has taken up this project. It will not only help people to get their passports faster, but will also remove the lazy system of issuing this important document.

As report says, MEA will operationalize the Central Passport Printing Facilities in the capital this month itself. Here only the passports that are filled-up will be sent directly to the passport centers rather than blank booklets to save time and make the process more effective.
