Reports confirm that the process of accepting visa applications for Haitians intending to move to Canada has been fastened by the government of Canada. This has come in the wake of high criticism faced by Canadian government for accepting low quantity of visa applications from the Haitians after the massive earthquake which stuck the place last year.
It has been said that the immigration target for Haitians for the year 2010 has been enhanced by the Canadian government. Statistics further confirmed that more than 3,600permanent resident applications faced approval, while more than 3,000 who were affected by the earthquake were given temporary entry in the country.
By the end of the year 2010, more than two thousand and five countries faced reunion with their clan by CIC. The figures saw an increase of three times of the number witnessed in the year 2009.
According to Marjorie Villefranche, who is the director of La Maison d’Haïti in Montreal, the progress of Canadian government has been closely followed and it has been confirmed that an acceleration is seem in the pace with which Canadian government has accepted visa applications from Haitians.
Further, Immigration Minister Jason Kenney went on to say that in just six weeks, the applications processed from Haitians are equal to the number normally being processed in two years.
Out of 203 kids from Haiti brought to the country, 152 have become either received a PR status or have become citizens in the country.
