While working in Canada, students are entitled to understand the responsibilities decked with their stay in Canada too. Failure to take care of the same might lead to an action by the Canada Border Services Agency, which may go against them too. Not to mention that this may lead to a negative effect on their career and future aspects too.
Student who receive the work permit are liable to fulfill the eligibility requirements mentioned by the OCWP. In order to maintain them, students must:
- Continue going for full-time course, in addition to complying with all the requirements of the program along with the work permit.
- Continue to sustain the acceptable academic standing
If the students are not sure about their own eligibility or they think that they might fail to fulfill the criteria, it is advised to consult their education’s DIR and clear all your doubts before facing any wrong judgment from the Canada Border Services Agency.
Failure to maintain the eligibility:
If the student participating in the program finds himself incapable of continuing with his full-time course, it becomes his duty to inform his employer of the same, acquainting him that he is no longer authorized to work. His work permit should immediately be handed over to the CIC office. After fulfilling the requirements, the candidate can apply for work permit again.
Changing Institution
Students having an off-campus work permit and at presently working in an employment must request a transfer of their Eligibility Verification, provided they are moving from one educational institution to another.
Extending or Renewing Permit
Students intending to extend or renew the permit have to re-apply for the extension or renewal for their study permit as well as off-campus work permit.
