Schengen zone entry of Romania, Bulgaria opposed by EU countries

Romania and Bulgaria’s attempt to acquire Schengen zone membership is huddled by two powerful members Germany and France. These Schengen zone members raised new concerns over poor immigration and border control of these new entrants.

Schengen zone is a borderless travel zone of 25 EU countries as well as several prominent non EU nations acting as single province for immigration and international travel with common border controls and exempting particular countries immigration rules.

Bulgaria and Romania, two Black Sea states aspire to sign the Schengen agreement in March this year to enter as a member country of Schengen zone. Romania and Bulgaria became European Union member in 2007.

Bulgarian Immigration Officials and Romanian President condemn this news and said that they will not tolerate discriminations, even from the most powerful countries of EU. They further added that imposing different conditions is against European law as we possess similarity and so expect same conditions as the rest states earned.

Interior Ministers of France and Germany marked it as a premature step to include Romania and Bulgaria into Schengen zone and proposed the EU commission to postpone these two state’s Schengen entry.

Current immigration problem of Greece as surging illegal migration from Turkey to Greece using it as an entrance to European Union can reflect the same story with these two states. Illegal emigrants will likely use Romania and Bulgaria to enter Western Europe. Later decision can be taken on Romania and Bulgaria subjected to their ability to strengthen the public administration and judiciary to combat illegal immigration.
