According to some reports, the ongoing industrial activities by the Canadian Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) is leading to growingly extended waits for the permit aspirants, who file visa-petitions overseas. Specifically impacted are the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) candidates, besides travelers & students. It is claimed that–in case the strike does not end—travelers & students may be forced to explore other options. Since the past couple of years, there has been a surge in the figure of travelers from Mexico & China to the Maple Leaf Country.
The PAFSO is the union for Canadian administration workers who do jobs in other nations even as its members cover immigration employees, in addition to attorneys, ambassadors, besides financial experts. Since June 6, the members of the PAFSO have been reportedly involved with industrial activities.
Union will increase industrial action in case demands unmet
The PAFSO members have been behind a chain of organized walk-outs even while the union has issued a warning that it will fan its activities in a situation wherein it does not get what it wants. As per the union, its members are paid from 3,000 to 14,000 Canadian dollars every year less than what the government employees working for other organizations, who do comparable work.
However, Ottawa does not appear prepared to concede defeat, to stop additional action. It has allegedly declared that the PAFSO workers get certain other benefits, like a contribution to their dry cleaning charges, absolutely free means of transportations, besides an inducement stipend for working overseas even as these pay-off for their somewhat lower income.
