A study, released in the month of September this year, revealed that increasing number of Indian people are travelling to Australia for spending holiday and memorable vacation. The study was conducted by Tourism Australia, a government run agency, mainly concerned about promoting travel and tourism in the country.
The study unveils, “A large number of Indians visited the country for the year ending June 30, 2012. It makes a total increase of 5.6 % against the figure revealed during the last year.” The study also confirmed the visit of total number of 152,500 Indian citizens in the land of kangaroos in the mid of the current year.
The above figure makes India the 10th biggest inbound market for traveling as at June, 2012. However, the fact cannot be denied that Australia has become the most lovable destinations for a majority of Indians.
Australia witnesses a frequent visit of Indians having different objectives – the total number of 29,454 Indians have visited the country for spending holiday. Meanwhile, 54,250 Indians visited Australia to meet their family and friends.
The study further states, “The current figure clearly verifies the fact that India is the largest and significant market, and also an important factor that always gets a special attention by Australian tourism.”
“Blessed with a strong economy and fast-progressive lifestyle, India is seen as a key market player in future in terms of tourist’s arrivals and spends.”
Tourism Australia has recently come up with a new strategy, aimed to target India for having a large tourism potential. The India 2020 Strategic Plan has been set out mainly to target more tourism from India. The plan forecasts travels of nearly 300, 000 Indians and also total expenditure of up to AUD 2.3 million by the year of 2020. Australia mainly targets Indians living in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai.
