The delay is over… According to LiveMint, the Passport Seva Project would soon commence this week or the next one, confirmed a MEA official.
TCS Passport project aims at the issuance of passport in just three days! The official affirmed that the infrastructure is ready, along with the fixation of facets linked with software and security issues.
The applicants seeking visa would have the freedom to submit their applications online. Also, a database would be kept with both the police officials as well as the Immigration authorities, to ensure the safety of the applicants. Further, it would ease out and speed up the police verification process during the issuance of the passport. The official further confirmed that everything has been fully tested, hoping to come out with a final announcement any time this week or so.
TCS earlier ensured that the project would start by the end of January, 2010 and it seems that the Passport Seva Project is not far behind in its commencement.
Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) was hired to give start to a public-private-partnership model. It has to be noted that the pilot study was to be initiated in Bangalore and Chandigarh, way back in March 2009, but continued to miss its deadlines due to multiple reasons.
With everything looking to be in place with each other, it is likely that the project would start soon. Rest, we have to wait and watch for the next official statement.
