Temporary Workers in Canada Increasing Day by Day

According to a recent report, the number of Canada temporary overseas workers is increasing day by day. In response to this scenario, one British Columbia (BC) group has given a proposal of allowing them to the country as permanent resident right away at their landing in this Maple Country.

According to the data provided by the Center for Policy Alternatives of Canada, there were 120,074 temporary overseas workers in the country in 1986. By the year of 2000, the number got increased to 177,781 and, in 2010 it reached at 432,682. The estimated figures have showed that in the year of 2000 alone, there were 140% increase in the number of temporary workers in the nation.

As indicated by the CCPA, temporary overseas personnels are filling a large number of vacancies in Canada, for instance: from the occupation of professors in universities and other such specialized jobs, to athletes and performance artists, to low-salaried service personnels.

According to a news source online, allowing the overseas temporary personnels to enter into the nation with landed status will provide a lot more benefits to the BC.

The said report has also revealed that the Canada Chamber of Commerce expects to propose a new law along with the criteria of allowing more number of immigrants into the country as residents (PR), but not as temporary workers. However, there has not been such clue that currently it is considering any such official legislation.

Temporary overseas workers are allowed in Canada with a condition that employment of these immigrants does not hamper the permanent residents and citizens of the nation, or provides significant benefits to the cultural or economic welfare of the country.
