Travel in Hong Kong Increased!

Statistics always say the right story! This time it has to do with the Hong Kong immigration. In accordance with the official announcement by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, it has been confirmed that 36.03million was the total number of provisional arrivals witnessed, a total hike of 21.8% as compared to its previous year. The statistics comprise of 22.47 million Mainland arrivals (a growth of 27.0% seen in the same), short-haul arrivals comprised of 8.72 million (these figures do not include Mainland and a growth of 16.5% seen in this case), and 4.84 million long-haul arrivals, watching a growth of 9.6%.

According to Mr. James Tien, Chairman of Hong Kong Tourism Board, the tourism of the country witnessed a major jump back in the year 2010 after it was hit severely by various facets like financial tsunami and human swine influenza the previous year. The bounce back of the nation can be credited to the joint endeavor by the HKTB; various travel trades and the SAR government which came out with different initiatives to boost the travel in the nation.

He further stated that the year 2011 would witness Asia being the main aspect in tourism growth on a global level. The collaboration between travel trade and the HKTB would continue to exist, hence upholding the image of Hong Kong as an international cosmopolitan destination.
