UK’s Tougher Language Requirement in Pipeline for International Students!

Here is latest from UK immigration world. With the time approaching to put the permanent immigration cap on non-European nations, the United Kingdom has been trying to come up with new visa rules which may ultimately help it reduce the number of overseas people coming inside. The fresh speculation is that the European nation may introduce tougher English language requirements for international students who come to the country to pursue below degree level courses.

If the speculation turns into a reality, a huge number of foreign students intending to enter the UK would be affected. For a more precise idea, sources say that several thousands of potential international pupils would not be able to consider under degree level courses in the UK, owing to their inability of meeting the UK student visa prerequisites. As of now, for under degree level courses, international students are required to have English speaking proficiency at intermediary level B1. With tightening of the visa requirement, the UK government may require them to have intermediary B2 level.

However, it has also been noticed that a good number of universities are not likely to be affected by the possible visa requirement change, since they have already been following the intermediary B2 level requirement for international students. But, there are many private, as well as pre-degree level educational facilities that would definitely be affected at large.

The government figures say that United Kingdom welcomes more than sixty percent of immigrants of the total non-European Union migrants entering the country under student visa category. However, as the UK coalition government is in favor of slashing the country’s net immigration level to that of 1990s level, it may think that they could attain their goal by targeting the student visa route.
