This type of visa can be applied by people who are interested in investing a substantial amount in business in the UK. The visa belongs to the category of investor under Tier 1. Once you apply for this visa it is assessed under the points based system. There certain requirements which you would have fit into if you need to apply for this visa. You should be having an existing job offer in UK to get the UK Tier 1 Investor Category visa.

The person interested should be able to invest a minimum amount if £1,000,000 if you want this visa. Before applying for this visa you should be able to prove that you can invest this much amount of money while you plan to start a business there. The points based system is applicable only for people who are willing to migrate from outside of Europe. They are certainly different requirements if you are not from outside Europe.

People who belong to or have the nationality of the country which belongs to the European economic area (EEA) or belongs to Switzerland then you are considered to have all rights to work in the European country. This means that you do not have to undergo the point based system for your application. That is to obtain a visa under UK Tier 1 Investor Category your application need not be applied under the points based system.

The investor category visa does not have to go through the points based system if you belong to the UK ancestry section. That is under UK ancestry section you can apply for the Tier 1 investor visa if your grandparents were once born in the UK. Under this category you are considered as commonwealth citizen who have permission to live and work in the UK.
