US—Most Preferred Destination for Indian Students

In spite of the weakening of the Indian economy, and the alarming decline of the Indian rupee, which makes pursuing studies in the US a very expensive affair, students from India—more so from the southern state of Tamil Nadu–continue to allegedly view the foreign destination as their dream hotspot, for advanced learning purposes.

As per the Chennai based US consular office, an additional 27% students have filed petition to travel to the country to register themselves for various study courses in 2013, vis-à-vis the year gone by, i.e., 2012. Talking about this, an involved person reportedly said that the consulate in question made available 8,106 student permits during 2012 even as an augmentation of 27% is being seen in the figure of the student permit candidates since then.

The truth that at the present the tuition charges differ from US$ 15,000 (nearly 9.30 lakhs) to $60,000 (37.20 lakhs) per annum–on the basis of the degree, besides the place of the educational establishment in the US–obviously doesn’t appear to be dispiriting many and having much of an effect on their morale.

One student–who is allegedly keen to move to the said overseas country for his masters–said that the swell in the worth of the dollar does not, in any manner, offset the overall quality of education that he hopes to get in the country. In a related development, an ex IIT professor reportedly said that loans given for education play a key role in inspiring students these days.
