US Probes Indian Infosys over Visa Irregularities

The concerned organization of the United States is looking into the alleged claims of visa irregularities made by the Indian IT biggie, Infosys. Besides, the firm in question, Infosys, is also under the radar–the basis of which is a report that says it was ushering-in employees from India on wrong permits only to pay them low salaries later. The development comes even while as the Infosys is involved in legal combat in the American courts for allegedly misusing the short-term visitor permits to ship low-wage workers to the country.

Lately, several cases of friction on the issue of the issuance of visas have created bitterness between the involved countries–US and India. Apart from Infosys, many other Indian players involved with services exports of software from India purportedly send across a large number of workers to the shores of the US every year for work purposes with their US based customers.

Infosys, however, has also strongly denied all alleged unlawful activities on its part even as in the background of the presidential elections in the US, the firm in question and other affected Indian companies are gearing-up for yet another round of anti-outsourcing propaganda, even while they lick their wounds inflicted courtesy a 2010 hike made in the fees for the US permits.

Meanwhile, New Delhi has claimed that the said the hike in fees may prove dear for the involved Indian firms; in fact, to the tune of $200 million per annum. The concerned government officers from India have also issued a warning that they would lodge a complaint with the concerned world body on the issue of the fees, which they allege, goes against the interests of the firms from India.
