When it comes to immigration among the developed nations, the United States continues to be the favorite destinations for immigrants around the world. As of now, about 43 million foreign nationals are living in the nation.

This is as per a report brought out by The Guardian which is based on the statistics revealed by the United Nations sometime back during this year along with an independent study by the Demographic Studies Institute (INED) in France. The figures were based on net immigration which takes place throughout the world.

Immigration to the United States can be considered as way ahead when compared to the rest of the world. Russia was the next best option for immigrants throughout. There are about 12.3 million immigrants currently residing in Russia.

However, if looked at the overall population, migrants cater to only about 13 percent of the total population of the United States. At the same time, when it comes to immigration to Canada, the foreign migrants cater to about 21 percent of the total population. This makes it to about 7.2 million migrants currently residing in the country.

On the other hand, immigration to Australia caters to about 4.7 million which makes it for 21 percent of immigrants among the Australia population. Similarly, UK makes up for only 10 percent which comes to about 6.5 million.

As per the estimates which have been published by the United Nations, about 214 million people have immigrated to other nations which make it about 3 percent of the total population of the world.
