What Fundamental Requirements for Denmark Permanent Residence Permit Are?

Are you a foreign national living in Denmark, on a Temporary Residence Permit, even while it’s been a minimum of 4 years till now? If YES, obtaining a permanent residence permit is possible for you, if you meet the requirements. In case you don’t, you can well apply for an extension of your present Residence Permit.

To qualify for a Denmark Permanent Residence Visa, you have to get 100 points by meeting certain requirements that are divided into 3 categories, such as: Fundamental Requirements, Active citizenship, and Supplementary Requirements.

Fundamental Requirements

Meeting of the fundamental requirements will provide you with 70 points. The requirements for this category include:

  • You must have been legally residing in Denmark for the minimum period of last 4 years.
  • You should not have any criminal record.
  • You should not have any unpaid public debts.
  • You should not have received certain forms of public assistance for the period of three years before applying for a Permanent Residence Visa and until any decision has been made on your application.
  • You have to submit a signed statement regarding the integration and active citizenship in the Danish society.
  • You have to pass the Prøve i Dansk 2 or a Danish language test.
  • You must have a full-time job in Denmark for a minimum period of 2½ years from the last 3 years, before applying for a Permanent Residence Permit, and have to be employed at the time of decision about your application.

Apart from these fundamental requirements, other categories, like active citizenship and supplementary requirements, also provide points to the Denmark PR applicants. When the applicants fulfill the requirements, they get 15 points for each category.
