Even though the Skilled Migrant Category under residence instructions of Immigration New Zealand is dedicated to foreign skilled workers, this does not allow anybody and everybody to enter the country. A resident visa facilitates the people to work and live in New Zealand and have access to most citizenship advantages.

Not anyone with the required qualifications, training, and work experience can apply for a Kiwi resident visa. The following things are must know in order to be able to apply for the same:

• A prospective NZ resident visa applicant must have an invitation to apply for the Skilled Migrant Category; AND

• Once he/she is issued an invitation, the person must apply for a resident visa under the Skilled Migrant Category within 4 months of the date of the invitation is issued; AND

• The letter of invitation to apply for a resident visa must not have been revoked. A revoked invitation means the person is not able to apply for the New Zealand resident visa.
