With the Canadian government giving more emphasis on its health care services, the occupation of registered nurses has been added to the recently introduced list of 29 occupations for the Federal Skilled Migrant program. Based on the list, an applicant can immigrate to Canada on his/her skills and qualifications. At the same time, it is not mandatory for a professional to seek an employment opportunity in prior to qualify for immigration. The group involves nurse practitioners, graduates of a nursing program, registered nurses as well as registered psychiatric nurses and so on.

Qualifying Criteria

  • The applicant must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in nursing.
  • An applicant must have an experience of at least one year as a nurse or related field.
  • A person must have experience of around 2-4 years; actual number of years of experience to apply under this occupation is dependent on many factors such as whether the applicant is married and his English language skills.
