The United Kingdom Border Agency came out with their pilot project in order to deal with people who lie about their nationalities. The decision is creating huge amount of criticism, especially with the individuals belonging to the right group.

Britain is the first country to use DNA Test for asylum seekers. However, British authorities are elaborating that suspects would be asked to provide their samples only when they fail to answer or provide ample evidence on their nationalities.

The government asserts that such tests may provide evidence about the nationalities of the applicants but are not conclusive as such. Till now, the genetic tests are applied on nationals from Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Eritrea, Uganda and Sudan, although there are plans to conduct the tests on people belonging to other nationalities too.

According to Alec Jeffreys, who is a geneticist at the University of Leicester, “One can not determine the nationality with the help of genes.” In addition, other experts are naming it as “fundamentally flawed science” and are demanding its adjournment.
