Available reports suggest that the Immigration Minister of New Zealand is unapologetic for reforms introduced to the immigration regulations of the country which may end up splitting apart many families. Reportedly, a cabinet paper a copy of which made its way to the press recently, brought to light that Wellington is keen on tightening-up criteria for those family members who may be interested in acquiring the much-prized residency status of the nation, via a new tiered program of immigration.
Declaring that affluent migrants may be preferred, Nathan Guy, the said minister, was quoted as saying that the nation had no qualms over the issue, and was committed to making certain that those who are turning up in the nation’s economy are in a position to successfully hold down a job.
The concerned minister added that it is perfectly right for the taxpayers of the country to know that their hard earned money is being invested pretty well, and not on those, who may be making the most of the benefits. He continued that it has been learnt that migrants, who have turned up earlier, have been rather dependent on benefits, although in several instances, they have had to have a job offer, prior to arriving on the shores of the nation.
He further said that families could be split-up — thanks to the changes made in the laws, adding Wellington is committed to driving the economy ahead, where it is expected that the arriving immigrants may perform in the modern day economy of the Kiwi Land.
