A new NEXUS lane for entering US border

An announcement of the opening of the new NEXUS lane – made by the CBSA (Canada Border Service Agency) – the lane will be opened at the Abbotsford, British Columbia, Sumas and Huntingdon, crossing the Washington border.

The lane is to be opened for all seven days for `12 hrs from 8 am to 8 pm – for accessing the land of Canada. Those who are anxious to avail various important benefits of Canada – need to satisfy various requirements – the intending applicants must be citizens of either country and resided in the US or Canada, for minimum three years.

Besides, the NEXUS card holders also need to demonstrate their membership card cards while arriving at the border and asked for the same. After installation of the electronic card readers, the applicants don’t need to show their membership card.

The immense popularity of the NEXUS program finally prompted CBSA to take several new steps for enhancing its popularity, eventually announced on the opening of lane in British Columbia.

“Opening of new lane in British Columbia province mainly serves its purpose of helping low-risk visitors by providing a smoother crossing in time for a long weekend in the current month,” conceded the Minister of International Trade Ed Fast, who is also a Minister for Asia-Pacific Gateway.

The NEXUS program is only meant for catering the needs of those of low-risk travelers, who are granted to enter Canada or US through designated ways such as air, land and water.

The opening of the new NEXUS lane clearly reveals an improvement caused by a joint effort by Canada and US, both countries are on the way of making the program as an important part of Canada/US Action Plan, which includes some important facts that have been mentioned below.

  1. An effort to make renewal and membership process simple
  2. Increasing membership by launching an awareness plan
  3. Eliminating hectic requirement like three-year residency for Canada and US citizens, intending to apply the program.
