Migrants Must Converse in English Language: British Opposition Chief

In a remarkable development, the British Labour Opposition Head has recently observed that that the previous Labour administration had committed many errors in its immigration procedure from 1997 to 2010. During the said time-frame, reportedly, 4 to 5 million individuals from abroad had arrived in Britain, for living purposes. Detractors allege that the previous administration had a faulty strategy of open-door immigration even as it enabled large-scale movement of people from abroad to the UK to go on unhindered.

The said Labour Opposition Chief added that large-scale immigration had created some issues in the country, continuing the previous 2 Labour premiers had not been very right to presume that individuals from across the globe–who arrived in Britain for settlement purposes—would, by design, get along collectively and cooperatively.

He further said that the pace of immigration revealed that some social unity had gone down the drain, adding the Labour had certainly been behind some wonderful things on the important issue of immigration. For instance, he added, it had brought-in ceremonies for citizenship. Still, the party in question had been excessively positive and to buoyant in believing that the relationships and links–which form society–would positively take care of themselves.

The Labour Opposition Chief continued that, in case his party storms to power, his Labour administration would have a nice and workable arrangement and road map for integration; it would have its roots in actual life, and would help real individuals living true lives. The government would lay emphasis on improving the language skills of the migrants to accordingly assist them to take active part in the national society, for clear reasons.

He added that he strongly differed, and was on a different wavelength, from those who believed that integration was the sole answer to the crucial issue of large-scale immigration. The labor chief further said that it wasn’t essential for individuals to drop their differing individualities and/or uniqueness. He added that it was compulsory to make certain that the native populace of the country was suitably safeguarded from the not-too-positive influences of immigration.

The Labour Opposition Head continued that–in case he successfully gets elected–his administration would, among others:

• Offer the migrants extra assistance in suitably learning and mastering the language of English.

• Make the immigrant parents fully accountable for the education of their kids to guarantee that they learnt the said language, for obvious reasons.

• Mull over preventing those, with pathetic English skills, from doing any job that involves interacting with the common public directly in the public domain.

• Prevent the job-providers/recruiters/firms from advertising employment -related opportunities to just 1 ethnic/racial faction.

• Launch transitional controls to guarantee that there would be no replication whatsoever of the large-scale overseas movement of people from Poland and Eastern European nations to the UK, post 11 nations became a part of the European Union (EU) way back in 2004.

• Stop a large number of persons from staying in one single property–the reason being when several migrants stayed in one single house, the chances of their neighbors not feeling very comfortable and at ease about the same were naturally high.

It would be worthwhile to mention here that the grandparents of the Labour opposition head were Polish Jews. They had shifted to Belgium even while his (Labour Opposition Chief’s) father was a well-known Communist thinker. His (Labor Opposition Head’s father’s) place of birth was Belgium, and he had left for Britain in 1940, to stay away from being persecuted by the Nazis. In case Britain had comparable immigration checks then, in 1940–like it has presently–maybe, the family of the Labour opposition chief would have been denied admission to the country.
