Countries fear that people from India, Pakistan and south Asian nations flock their premises with illegal immigrants. But according to recent report, India in itself served as a huge base for accumulating undocumented workers from all over the world. More than 20 million such people are currently residing in India, either with fake passports, undocumented state or fraud papers. And they have easily managed to sneak inside the country through its borders which have become an easy option for illegal immigrants.

The stats are confirmed by the government figures that the number of illegal immigrants is more than a combined ratio of undocumented people in the United States and the European Union.

According to G. Gurucharan from MOIA, India shares its borders with nations like Bangladesh and Nepal which are two of the major source providers of illegal immigrants. These countries have landed India in a difficult condition with millions of people flocking into the country.

He said that women from Nepal are forced into sexual trade, courtesy the transparent border shared by the two countries. The number of such women is rising on a constant basis.

Also, it becomes hard to know the identity of a person crossing the Indian borders as a Punjabi-speaking migrant can turn out to be Pakistani, likewise, a Bengali speaking person may be thought as someone from West Bengal, but in reality might hold his identity from Bangladesh.

Hence, serious measures are required to curb down the number of illegal immigrants intending to move to India.
