We have already discussed that applications to the Strategic Occupations Stream of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program are considered under five categories, viz.-

• Skilled workers;
• International Graduates;
• International Post-graduates Pilot Projects;
• Designated Health Professionals; and
• Entry Level and Semi-skilled Pilot Projects.

Now, let us discuss about the basic requirements that applicants must meet in order to apply under these categories:

• The applicants must show the intention to settle in the Canadian province.
• They should be able to establish themselves financially in the province.
• Applicants applying for the nominee program from inside Canada must have a lawful immigration status in the country. They must not be facing any deportation order in Canada.
• Applicants applying from inside Canada must not be having an active asylum claim.
• Applicants applying from outside Canada must not be facing any order against their visiting Canada. They should have lawful status in the nation (outside Canada) from where they apply or reside at the time of applying for the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program.

Below are some additional requirements that apply to all categories, but the International Post-Graduate Pilot Project. All applicants must meet these requirements before applying for the BC PNP. Let’s have a look at them:

• A nominee applicant must have a permanent/full-time job offer in an eligible occupation from a BC employer.
• The applicant must have the abilities and be qualified to do the job.
• The wage offered by the employer must be competitive with the province’s wage rates for the designated occupation
• The occupation must have long-term prospects
• The applicant’s employment must bring significant benefits to the economy of the province.
