The commitment made by the UK government has been renewed by Damian Green, the Immigration Minister of UK. The coalition government has kept its promise of bringing down the immigration limit for UK. According to the Minister, the main objective of the government is still to reduce the total migration when compared to last year. It was 196,000 which are expected to be brought down by tens of thousands.
After this limit has been brought about, the next focus would be on the student visas. Along with this, the family visas would also be looked into. In order to cut down on the numbers by tens and thousands, it is important to look into all the aspects of visa and immigration.
The above news is definitely a surprise especially after the British Prime Minister David Cameron had announced earlier that intra-company would not be a part of the visa cap that has been planned by the government. This has come about despite the fact that most of the skilled migrants who come to UK have come via this visa only.
Intra-company transfers are a major aspect which permits big, multinational companies to deploy their employees in various branches internationally. The UK visas catering to intro-company transfer cater to this aspect of the businesses.
While clarifying the statement made by the Prime Minister, Mr. Green said that those who are at the most senior level would only be exempted from this particular cap. However, those who are working at any other salary level are not exempt from this cap.
On the other hand, Phil Woolas, the shadow immigration minister has said there are increasing signs of conflict between the various ranks in the government. With many of the coalition ministers literally at war behind the curtains, it is time that the decision is thought over again.
