According to employers, prevailing skills shortage in the market for overseas IT skills is compelling the government to open a way for more sponsored skilled immigration under 457 visa programs.

The recent reports released by Immigration and Citizenship Department clearly exhibits that three IT skills were among top three shares of 457 visa permits last year. Rest to that three major occupations of 457 visa permits are real estate, health care and media and information.

The market has encountered a shortage of skilled workers all because of newly imposed labor agreements by the federal government, tightening the sponsored visa categories.
