In order to be eligible to immigrate under the Entrepreneur Category, a principal applicant has to demonstrate that he/she has successfully set up a business in the Kiwi country. Now, a business is considered to have successfully set up, if the principal applicant satisfies the following:

• The principal applicant must have set up or purchased a business in the Kiwi country. Or he/she must have made a substantial investment in an existing business in the country;

• The principal applicant must have been self-employed in that business in the Kiwi country for a minimum period of two years;

Substantial investment: Substantial investment implies the acquisition of 25 percent or more shareholding of a business.

Self-employment: Self-employment refers to the principal applicant’s legal and active involvement in the management and operation of a business in the Kiwi country. He/she must have established that business or purchased or made substantial investment in that business.
