A Sign of Relief For Chefs and Cooks: Australian Immigration!

Well, here is a sign of relief for the chefs and cooks intending to immigrate to the Kangaroo land. Soon after the release of the country’s new Skilled Occupations List, there has been a great concern among the above mentioned categories. But, the Australian immigration minister has recently announced that the ever welcoming Australia would still welcome highly qualified chefs and cooks in the future, irrespective of the fact that they are not included in the latest Skilled Occupations List.

Even though the two job categories have been eliminated from the newest Skilled Occupations List, it will not restrict the employers to meet their needs, when they need to recruit chefs and cooks. Now, the employers in need of the skilled workers under the two job categories can select chefs and cooks under the 475 visa category. Besides, they have other options including employer-sponsored visas and the new state migration program.

With the elimination of chefs and cooks job from the Skilled Occupations List, the new list has been reduced to only 181 occupations. Earlier, the list had included a total of 400 job titles. The reduction in job titles is part of the country’s immigration department’s aim to target some particular skilled workers that are currently in demand. But, the immigration minister has confirmed that the removal will not affect the culinary industry in terms of meeting their chef and cook requirements.

Well, the country has already reviewed its skilled migration system, which facilitates Australian employers to meet the specific requirements and appoint workers they need. Reportedly, many employers have been already reaping the advantage of the system, especially when it comes to recruiting cooks and chefs.
