Things to do when applying for Subclass 189

To be eligible to apply for an Australia Independent (Subclass 189) Visa, you need to obtain an invitation first. Once you get the invitation to apply, you have to complete the task of filing an online application within the limited period of 60 days.

The application is lodged online through SkillSelect accompanied by initial charges of application fee, to be paid by credit card.

Moreover, the applicants who have dependents (18 years or above), will have to bear additional charges of application fee, must be paid before visa-issuance.

Finally, the applicants need to ensure that whether they have been explained or read the Australia Values Statement and agree with this, before filing the applications.

All necessary documents must be attached properly with your application to verify your personal information mentioned in your expression of interest.

The documents should be in English language, if it is not (in other languages), then it must include an English translation. The documents in other languages must be translated into English by only those who are accredited by an organization like NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters).

If the document is translated by a person not licensed by the said organization then they have to provide their full details including qualification and telephone number.

The supporting documents must be scanned and attached with the application properly. You will be notified by the immigration department if they require any additional information from your side.

As mentioned, the applicants applying for Skilled Independent Visa are granted to include their family members such as partners, dependent child, partner’s relatives, etc, in their applications.

To be included in the application, your family members must further fulfill several requirements that include legally married de facto relationship, approved copy of marriage certificate and more.
